Grand Master Percy E. Brown was born October 22, 1936, in Bell County Kentucky. His family migrated north to Detroit, Michigan during WWII. There he met and married his wife, Freddie. They have four children, 17 grandchildren and one great-grand child. Brother Percy attended Arlington Baptist College in Arlington, Texas, and, upon completion of studies was ordained by the Gideon Baptist Church and later assumed the pastorate of Temple Baptist Church in Saginaw, Michigan. While in Michigan he served on numerous evangelical committees including the Billy Graham Crusades, Saginaw Rescue Mission and Saginaw County Jail as chaplain. In 1976 the family returned to Kentucky and he was chosen pastor of Bledsoe Baptist Church. Brother Percy has served on the Board of Directors of Kentucky Baptist Youth Camp and also served as buyer for that organization. With a deep-seated respect for education instilled by his parents who were both professional educators, he served on the Prichard Committee on Education and sat as chairman on that panel. Brother Percy was initiated as an Entered Apprentice at Nolen Lodge #806 January 6, 1979; was passed to the degree of a Fellow Craft on February 10, 1979; and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on March 17, 1979. He served his lodge as Master in 1983-84. He was appointed District Deputy Grand Master in 1984. He elected to become a dual member of St. George Lodge 239 in 2003.
